The Site and Service are owned and operated by GGG, LLC (“we” or “GGG”). This Privacy Policy details how GGG treats the personal information it collects and receives.  This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of companies or websites that GGG does not own or control or is not affiliated with or to people it does not employ or manage.

This Privacy Policy is incorporated into and is subject to GGG’s Terms of Use found at www.girlsgonegreenaction.com/terms-of-use. If you do not agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Use, please do not provide GGG with any information and do not use the Site or Service.

 

Overview

This Privacy Policy sets forth GGG’s privacy practices including:

  • The collection of personally identifiable information (“Personal Information”) through the Site, which may include, among other things, name, date of birth, email address or other contact information
  • The intended use of Personal Information collected
  • Choices available to users regarding being contacted by GGG, data collection and the use of Personal Information
  • Measures taken to protect the loss or misuse of Personal Information

Information Collection and Use by GGG

In general, you may visit the Site and view content on the Site without revealing any Personal Information or other individual user information (other than cookies as described below).  If you want to upload content, join a group or otherwise actively participate in the Service and the Site, you will need to become a registered user of the Site.

 

To become a registered user of the Site, GGG will need to collect your email address and date of birth and may collect other Personal Information.  You will also need to select a user name and password.  GGG collects such Personal Information to authenticate you as a user and to be able send notifications you.  GGG may also collect other profile data including but not limited to, personal interests, gender, education, location, mobile phone number, and occupation to help in serving content recommendations.

 

In connection with certain portions of the Site and Services, GGG allows users to set up unique personal profiles that can be linked together through groups, friends and other organizations. Each registered user can change his/her profile information at any time.  Selected user names are used when communicating with users or posting content to the Site.  A user’s email address is not shared or displayed in connection with the Site unless authorized by such registered user.  Users can communicate on the Site and with each other through the Site, without disclosing their email addresses.

GGG may also log non-personally-identifiable information from users of the Site, including IP address, profile information, aggregate user data and browser type. This data is used to manage the Site, track usage and improve the Service.  User IP addresses are recorded for security and monitoring purposes.  GGG may aggregate this non-personally-identifiable information, such as the number of users that clicked on a particular link and may share such aggregated information with third-parties to provide more relevant content, services and advertisements to users.  Such information will not identify you individually.

 

Sharing and Disclosure of Information GGG Collects

Except as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy, GGG will not rent, sell or otherwise disclose your Personal Information to any third party, other than GGG’s parent, subsidiaries and contractors unless you have consented to such disclosure.  Notwithstanding the foregoing, GGG may disclose Personal Information if GGG believes that disclosure is necessary: (1) to conform to legal requirements or to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other legal process received by GGG whether or not a response is required by applicable law; (2) to enforce GGG’s Terms of Use or to protect our rights; (3) to respond to claims that any content on the Site violates the rights of third parties; (4) to respond to users’ requests for customer service; or (5) to protect the safety of users or the public.  GGG reserves the right to transfer Personal Information in connection with a merger or to a successor in interest that acquires rights to that information as a result of the sale of GGG or substantially all of its assets to that successor in interest.

In addition, from time to time we contract with other companies, such as website developers, to provide certain services in connection with the Site and Service.  In some instances, these contractors may have access to Personal Information or may collect Personal Information from you on our behalf.  These contractors are contractually obligated to maintain the security and confidentiality of Personal Information and to use it only for purposes of carrying out the business of the Site that they have been contracted to provide.  These contractors are prohibited from using Personal Information for their own marketing purposes or from sharing this information with anyone other than GGG.

GGG or a sponsor or alliance may sponsor a campaign, action such as a petition, promotion, sweepstake or contest on the Site.  Users may be asked to provide personal information including name, email address or home address or to answer questions in order to participate.  GGG may transfer Personal Information to certain sponsors, alliances or other third-parties from whom you have explicitly requested to receive information.  It will be clear at the point of collection who is collecting the Personal Information and whose privacy policy will apply.

 

Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act

GGG is a general audience site and does not knowingly collect or solicit or intend to collect any Personal Information from anyone under 13 years of age.  The Site targets an audience that is over the age of 18 and some content may not be appropriate for all ages.  Parental supervision is recommended.  If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register on the Site or send any Personal Information about yourself.  In the event that GGG learns that it has collected Personal Information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, GGG will delete that information as quickly as possible.  If you are the parent or guardian of child under 13 and believe that he/she has disclosed Personal Information to GGG, please contact GGG at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Invitations and Other Communications to Non-users

Registered users can invite friends to join the Service by sending invitation emails via our automated invitation system.  GGG stores the email addresses that users provide so that the respondents may be added to such user’s friend list and also to send reminders of the invitations.  GGG does not sell these email addresses or use them to send any other communication besides invitations and invitation reminders.  Recipients of invitations from GGG may contact GGG to request the removal of their information from our database.

 

Use of Cookies and Other Technology Related Information by GGG

Cookies are small files containing a string of characters sent to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser.  GGG uses cookies to store visitors' preferences and to record session information.  These uses include serving content recommendations specific to your interests.  We do not link the information we store in cookies to any Personal Information you submit while on the Site, although your password will be link to cookies so your password does not need to be re-entered when you visit the Site. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, you must enable cookies from GGG in order to use most functions on the Site.

 

GGG may also use web beacons (also known as "pixel tags" or “clear GIFs”) which are small graphic files that allow GGG to monitor the use of the GGG website. A pixel tag can collect information such as the IP (Internet Protocol) address of the computer that downloaded the page on which the tag appears; the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) of the page on which the pixel tag appears; the time the page containing the pixel tag was viewed; the type of browser that fetched the pixel tag; and the identification number of any cookie on the computer previously placed by that server. You can disable pixel tags by changing your browser settings to omit images and disable Javascript; or there are commercial software packages available that can omit pixel tags and most advertisements.

 

Third-Party Links and Advertising

The Site may contain links to other third-party websites.  GGG has no control over the information collected from or about you by any third-party after you have left the Site.  By clicking on links on the Site to other websites, advertisers and other third-parties, you are leaving the Site.  Once you have left the Site, GGG has no control over the data collection or other activities of any third-party linked to the Site.  GGG is not responsible, and assumes no liabilities, for the privacy policies and/or practices on such other websites. When linking to another site you should read the privacy policy governing that website. Our privacy policy only governs information collected on the Site.

 

Ads or other promotions appearing on the Site may be delivered to users by GGG or one of our sponsors or alliances. The sponsors or alliances may use  cookies if you click on the ad or enter the promotion. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement or other communication. In this way, these sponsors or alliances can  compile information about who saw their advertisements and promotions and determine which ads or promotions are clicked on. This information allows third-parties to deliver targeted advertisements or other information that they believe will be of most interest to you.

Certain areas of of the Site may contain advertisements that are served by a third-party ad server such as DoubleClick. In the course of serving ads, a third-party cookie may be placed on your browser that collects certain information from your visit to the Site and other websites. The third-party ad server may also use "pixel tags" or “clear GIFs.” The information collected during ad-serving is not personally-identifiable and does not link to your Personal Information. Instead, the information is used to serve you with targeted advertisements on the Site and other websites. You can choose to opt-out of the ad-serving cookie and not have your information used to serve you ads by following the procedure outlined on the third-party ad server’s website. You can also reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. Correcting/Updating or Removing Information

Registered users may modify or remove any of their Personal Information at any time by logging into their account and accessing the Account Setting feature.

 

GGG and Third-Party Communications

When you become a registered user you will be provided the opportunity to elect or “opt-in” to receiving updates about GGG, specific issues and campaigns, promotional events, subject matters of interest and other communications (“Communications”) from GGG and its parent and subsidiaries, including a newsletter from Participant Media, LLC.  In addition, GGG may consider requests from unrelated third-parties to contact you but we will not give any third-party your Personal Information before we have obtained your consent.  You may give this consent by “opting-in” to having your information shared with each specific third-party.   Users who no longer wish to receive such Communications from GGG or any third-party may choose to “opt-out” by changing the preferences in their Account Setting.  In addition, instructions for unsubscribing from Communications will be included in every email.  From time to time and even if you have opted-out of receiving Communications, GGG will contact you with administrative updates or account information, which may include notices relating to changes in this Privacy Policy or user requirements.

 

GGG uses its good faith reasonable efforts to abide by the policies and practices laid out in this Privacy Policy and specifically in this Section on GGG and Third-Party Communications.  There may be instances, however, where we inadvertently and unintentionally fail to comply with these policies and practices.  Accordingly, by becoming a registered user of GGG, you hereby agree to receive Communications from GGG and its parent, subsidiaries and third-party affiliates.

 

Security

GGG user accounts are secured by user-created passwords. GGG takes precautions to ensure that user account information is kept private. We use reasonable measures to protect user information that is stored within our database, and we restrict access to user information to those employees or contractors who need access to perform their job functions, such as our customer service personnel and technical staff.  However, we cannot guarantee the security of user account information.  Unauthorized entry or use, hardware or software failure, accidental disclosure and other factors may compromise the security of user information at any time.

 

User Content

When you post User Content (as defined in the Terms of Use) on the Site you do so at your own risk.  GGG cannot control the actions of other users with whom you may choose to share your pages and information.  Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that User Content you post on the Site will not be viewed by unauthorized persons.  We are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures contained on the Site. You understand and acknowledge that, even after removal, copies of User Content may remain viewable in cached and archived pages or if other users have copied or stored your User Content.  You also acknowledge that, even after removal, copies of content are retained by GGG for legal purposes. This content will not be visible to users of the Site.

Please be aware that whenever you voluntarily post public information to websites, blogs, message boards, chat rooms or any other public forums such information can be accessed by the public and can in turn be used by those people to send you unsolicited communications.

 

Changes in Our Privacy Policy

From time to time we may make changes to this Privacy Policy. If we make changes, we will post the new Privacy Policy (with a new effective date) on the Site.  All users of the Site are bound by any changes to this Privacy Policy when she/he uses the Site after those changes have been posted.  If we are going to use any Personal Information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time of collection we will notify by posting a notice on the Site for 30 days.
